Arrival and Stay

Arrival in Cologne

There are many possibilities to reach Cologne. We recommend using the train connections for environmental reasons. Additionally, you will have the chance to enjoy the beauty of Cologne Cathedral welcoming you when you cross the famous Hohenzollernbrücke.

Colognes main station is called „Köln Hauptbahnhof“ and is well connected to most cities in Europe. The station “Köln Messe/Deutz” shortly before the Hauptbahnhof is closer to the Youth Hostel – our accommodation.

The travel times to Cologne by train are surprisingly short:

  • Brussels, 2 h
  • Amsterdam, 2:40 h
  • Paris, 3:20 h
  • London, 4:20 h
  • Milan, 8:50 h
  • Vienna, 1 night

Alternatively, Cologne is reachable by plane. Three international airports are close by.

    • Cologne-Bonn, reachable in 10 minutes with local trains
    • Dusseldorf, reachable in 40 minutes with local trains
    • Frankfurt, reachable in 55 minutes with high speed trains

Your stay in Cologne

The Youth Hostel Köln-Deutz is located close to the main station, Cologne Cathedral and the city centre. We have booked bedrooms for two, four and six people respectively. Every room has a separate bathroom and breakfast will be provided for you at the hostel. The nearest train station „Messe/Deutz“ allows easy travel to the university, where the scientific programme will take place.
